Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the accounting department with day-to-day financial operations, including data entry, processing transactions, maintaining records, and assisting with reconciliations. This role requires proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain accurate financial data in QuickBooks Desktop
- Process accounts payable (AP), including invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments
- Handle accounts receivable (AR), including invoicing, collections, and payment posting
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Prepare and review financial reports (e.g., profit & loss, balance sheet)
- Assist with payroll processing and related entries (if applicable)
- Communicate with vendors and customers to resolve billing discrepancies
- Support audits and provide documentation when requested
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred)
- 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop (required)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP knowledge a plus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
